" It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.

Established in 2015

Community Step Up was born out of the founder, David Johnson, wanting to better equip young children and young adults that were housed in group homes, going through drug rehab and that lack the basic human rights of a family, with the tools to better socially integrate and position themselves for a better adulthood.

Our Goal

Our goal is to help our youth process life's trauma through creative expression such as speeches, poems, and stage plays.

Founder & CEO

PictureDavid Johnson
David Johnson has been in the Social Work Field since 1979 when he moved from Ohio to Upstate New York. In 1995 where he attended Graduate School. He  relocated to Dallas, TX five years ago .
David says he is perfecting the skill of aggressively pursuing patience as he has worked with the underprivileged population for some time now. His strength lies in the skills he has developed in Behavioral Profiling. This skill helps identify suppressed qualities in youth and then David works to help them  modify their behavior to support the changes they desire to see in their life.
Since moving to the Dallas, TX area his passion for youth continues as he has created a program called Community Step UP! David created this program to help youth Stand UP, Speak UP and Show UP in order to understand and reach their full potential. He says that he agrees with the African Proverb: “It takes a village to raise a child.” That is why the Community must Step UP so that our youth will be successful..
